Melissa began her teaching career at Plaza Elementary School and has since worked as a cluster teacher, a teacher at the Old Donation School Gifted Academy and is currently a Gifted Resource Teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools at Salem Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with K-6 Certification, Masters in Education and Gifted Certification. She has worked as a curriculum reviser for two of William and Mary’s Language Arts Units (Patterns of Change and Explore, Discover, Reveal). Melissa loves selecting professional development opportunities that force her to grow and this past summer engaged in STEM Teacher Leadership Academy led by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research hosted by the Smithsonian Air National Space Museum. Melissa strives to support learners’ needs, parents, community and is a lifelong learner committed to growth and excellence. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in K-12 Administration from The College of William & Mary where she is focused on supporting gifted learners and teachers.Powered by
