About me
Dr. Lauren Johnson is an accomplished educational leader, literacy advocate, and community champion with more than 20 years of experience advancing student achievement, developing educators, and strengthening school communities. As an Assistant Principal with Arlington Public Schools, she is committed to creating equitable learning environments, fostering teacher growth, and building partnerships that support the success of every student.Recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia for her Action Research and contributions to the field of education, Dr. Johnson combines research-based leadership with practical experience to drive meaningful school improvement. She holds two master's degrees, earned a National Principal Academy Fellowship from RELAY Graduate School of Education, and received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. Prior to her career in education, she served as Marketing Director for Mellon Bank, bringing strategic communication and organizational leadership to her work in schools.Beyond her school leadership, Dr. Johnson is deeply committed to literacy and community service. She serves on the Board of Reading Is Fundamental of Northern Virginia (RIF NOVA), where she directs the Grants Committee. Driven by her belief that every child deserves to see themselves as a reader, Dr. Johnson authored the children's book Banana's First, Second, Third and has donated more than 100 copies to Title I schools across Virginia and Washington, DC. Outside of her professional and volunteer work, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, baking cookies, and spending time with her husband and four children.
