Goals & Subject Matter:
This immersive professional development session invites educators to step into the lived experiences of neurodivergent students. Rather than exclusive lecture-based learning, participants will engage in hands-on scenario activities where they are assigned roles and experience authentic challenges neurodivergent students face daily: sensory overload from fluorescent lights and ambient noise, social anxiety around peer judgment and misperception, executive function demands, and processing differences. Teachers will navigate real classroom situations like taking timed tests under distracting conditions, participating in group discussions while managing sensory input, and experiencing the emotional weight of being perceived as "different."


Practical Applications & Outcomes:
Participants will develop empathy-based understanding of neurodivergent experiences and identify concrete, evidence-based classroom modifications: sensory-friendly spaces, flexible testing accommodations, structured social interactions, and communication strategies. Teachers will leave with actionable strategies to reduce barriers, create psychologically safe environments, and support neurodivergent learners' academic and social success.


Session Flow & Interaction:
The session opens with immersive role-play scenarios, moves into facilitated small-group debriefs, and concludes with collaborative action planning where teachers design specific classroom modifications. Participants interact through experiential activities, peer reflection, and co-creation of inclusive practices.
